Studio based photogrammetry 3D body scanning rigs can take days to move, setup and re-calibrate. Repronauts’ Mobile Photogrammetry Studio has been designed specifically to be compact and portable for easy assembly and calibration on location.

Mobile 3D Body Scanning

We have captured hundreds of body scans on location. Our experience and attention to detail allow us to ensure we capture the data we need and are ready to scan the talent when they’re available.
Mobile Photogrammetry Stuido
Repronauts’ photogrammetry rig captures 300 x 24 MPixel pin-sharp images of the subject from multiple angles. The raw scan data is available for review immediately after the scan.
Scans take just 20 seconds. With time factored in to brief the talent how to pose and to review the data, we can comfortably capture 20 scans per hour. We can capture large numbers of people quickly and easily in a single scanning session. We can capture crowd scenes, entire sports teams or the entire cast of a production. We’re ready to scan at a time convenient to the production schedule.
Poses: We can scan in a variety of poses, and the choice of pose depends on the final use of the digital assets. When recreating animated virtual characters, we scan in A-pose, and a limitless range of creative and artistic poses are possible.
Raw Mesh Production: We use the latest photogrammetry software to digitally recreate the scanned object at stunningly high resolution, articulating a consistently high level of detail and accuracy.
Virtual Character Production
Our team of digital artists are experts in remeshing, topology, retouching and digital material production. We can quickly and easily produce full virtual characters from our 3D body scans. We have developed a suite of tools which allow us to automate many of the time consuming and repetitive tasks. This allows us to produce large numbers of photorealistic virtual characters relatively quickly and cost-effectively. The virtual charatcer production process is broadly as follows:
Remeshing and Topology: The raw scan mesh can be replaced with a low-poly version, suitable for realtime animation and mapping photorealistic textures.
Textures, and Materials: The photographic textures from the scan are projected onto the topologised mesh and retouched, then the material maps produced.
Rigging and Animation: We can apply skeletal rigs to the models, which allows them to be re-posed, or fully animated using studio or library mocap data.
